Welcome
The organising committee of the Portuguese Group for Immuno-Oncology (gpI-O) is pleased to invite you to participate in its first meeting, which will be held in Conímbriga Hotel do Paço, on the 28th of October 2023.
This group arises from a partnership between the Portuguese Society for Oncology and the Portuguese Society for Immunology, aiming to deepen the knowledge of immunotherapy in cancer patients and establish collaborations between the clinic and research.
The meeting is organised by members of both societies (SPO/SPI) with the motto “Matching Oncologists and Immunologists”, aiming to present the projects developed in research and clinical practice at the national level, to create new partnerships.
The initiative hopes to bring together clinical specialists, researchers, teachers, students and the pharmaceutical industry for a prolific and collaborative encounter between basic science and clinical practice. The event will focus on the areas “Patient Selection and Monitoring for Cancer Immunotherapy” and “Current and Future Challenges in Cancer Immunotherapy.
Of importance, this meeting’s goal is to promote interaction and discussion between clinical groups, researchers and pharmaceutical industry partners through the “Satellite Working Groups”. These working groups, divided into the various areas of oncology (“Breast/Genitourinary, Digestive, Head & Neck, Skin, Gynaecology and Thoracic”), will facilitate new bridges for future projects and partnerships between interlocutors, basic allies fighting and treating cancer diseases.
We hope to see you there!

The Conímbriga Hotel do Paço is a historical place full of charm, refinement and tranquillity.
This space was formerly the Almadas Palace. The roots of this palace date back to the 14th century.
The building, considered one of the most important of Condeixa, was restructured in XIX.
In 1993, it underwent deep work and was transformed into a Hotel. In 2019, it became the Conímbriga Hotel do Paço.
Here, there were lodged individualities of the most distinguished nobility and European royalty. Some of the special guests of the former palace were King D. Manuel in1500, D. Catarina, on her return to the Kingdom after the death of her husband Charles II of England in 1704, D. Pedro II, Charles of Austria and, finally, the infant of Spain D. Carlos, brother of King Fernando VII.
This hotel is owned by the ADFP Foundation, a non-profit institution that represents an offer of tourism with a purpose. The profits generated here will be used in social projects supporting people with social needs and victims of work exclusion.
